Some people might laugh at these photos of porn star Scarlett Fay promoting her Lindsay Lohan video for Hustler, but let’s be frank for a minute. This chick is doing way better than Lindsay. I mean, just think about it: She’s employed, not sentenced to rehab and stars in a movie that actually got made instead of being nothing but promo shots in a seedy hotel room. If it was up to me, I’d hire her to be Lindsay’s life-coach/personal Jesus and years from now she’d thank me for it. Preferably in the form of a free copy of “Freckles Fellatio: Space Attorney.”

You know that I like admiring Tokyo from the Tokyo Tower’s observatories. And the best part is that after leaving the tower, the magic continues, because Tokyo Tower itself becomes the attraction.
Since yesterday I received several requests for a night photo of Tokyo Tower, here is a photo taken during one of the short periods when Tokyo Tower uses a special illumination display: Blue Diamond Veil.
I taken Fotos in the last couple of months – please tell me what they tell you:
Let’s see. On the one hand, the scanners are a useful tool in detecting the sort of explosives smuggled onto Flight 253 by Abdulmutallab, and therefore a valuable weapon in the war on terror. Which of course is why Napolitano is expanding their use. On the other hand, airline passengers are understandably self-conscious about dangling their goods in front of the local TSA screener but perhaps willing to do so in the interest of not being blown up in mid-air. Our dilemma: What can we do to freak out the public to the point where they’ll demand that the scanners no longer be used, thereby imperiling everyone?
Good ol’ DHS. Always quick with a solution.
The U.S. Marshals Service admitted this week that it had surreptitiously saved tens of thousands of images recorded with a millimeter wave system at the security checkpoint of a single Florida courthouse.
This follows an earlier disclosure (PDF) by the TSA that it requires all airport body scanners it purchases to be able to store and transmit images for “testing, training, and evaluation purposes.” The agency says, however, that those capabilities are not normally activated when the devices are installed at airports…
William Bordley, an associate general counsel with the Marshals Service, acknowledged in the letter that “approximately 35,314 images…have been stored on the Brijot Gen2 machine” used in the Orlando, Fla. federal courthouse. In addition, Bordley wrote, a Millivision machine was tested in the Washington, D.C. federal courthouse but it was sent back to the manufacturer, which now apparently possesses the image database…
A 70-page document (PDF) showing the TSA’s procurement specifications, classified as “sensitive security information,” says that in some modes the scanner must “allow exporting of image data in real time” and provide a mechanism for “high-speed transfer of image data” over the network. (It also says that image filters will “protect the identity, modesty, and privacy of the passenger.”)
The only reason I can think of to save the images is to preserve evidence in case the TSA screener on duty … utterly fails to detect the hidden explosives in the image and the suspect somehow makes it onto the plane. Is that what this is about — making sure prosecutors have something to show the jury in case some jihadi actually makes it past the checkpoint and is subdued during the flight? Obviously you don’t need the image if you nab the guy during the pre-flight screening since you’ll recover the actual explosives themselves. What the sam hill is going on here?
Update: Speak of the devil…
Update: To clarify, obviously you don’t need the images if the guy’s subdued during the flight either. But having them would prove whether he brought the explosives onboard himself versus whether they were planted there by some other party. Is that what this is about? It can’t be.
MARCH 12–Meet 'Kristen,' the high-priced hooker who trysted with Eliot 'Client-9' Spitzer last month at that Washington, D.C. hotel. The 22-year-old prostitute's real name is Ashley Alexandra Dupre (though she was born Ashley Youmans), according to a New York Times report. On the following pages you'll find an assortment of photos of the young prostitute that were previously uploaded to a music web site, a talent agency's site, and her MySpace page, which describes Kristen/Ashley as an aspiring musician who left home at 17 and has been in New York City since 2004. And we also have a couple of her high school yearbook photos. (11 pages)

The new Apple Store in Covent Garden is the “best ever” according to Apple's senior VP of retail ops, Ron Johnson, who was on hand to give Pocket-lint a sneak peak of the shop ahead of its grand opening at 10am on 7 August.
As well as being the “best” Apple Store, it also has the honour of being Apple's 300th retail centre. Coincidence? We don't think those chaps from Cupertino do coincidences.
So, what makes the Covent Garden store the best?
Well, apart from being huge – three floors with a huge courtyard area – Johnson was keen to point out that much of the building is still made up of the original 1876 brickwork, which had to be carefully restored. A process Johnson described as “expensive” but the Apple boss was keen to stress that the cost was worth it. “We spent the right amount of money, put it that way”, he said.
As well as the “original fabric” Johnson was also keen to boast of the English oak used in the tables and parts of the floor, and was also awfully proud that it was the first Apple Store in the world to offer two glass staircases.
Talking of world firsts, the store also boasts Apple's newest addition to its retail operations – the Start Up room, where the Apple bods will help people set up their purchases before they even leave the shop.
There is also a new community room, and a business briefing centre where schools and, er, businesses can go and get hands on with the Apple gadgets.
As you'd expect there are also the usual Apple Store offerings such as Genius Bars, personal training rooms, kid's tables and there is also the largest selection of third party software and accessories to be found anywhere in the world.
300 employees have been summoned to work at the new store and they will all be able to take payments for items from anywhere on the premises using their iPod touches and the new Easy Pay Touch system. Paper receipts are long dead, you'll receive your purchase details via email before you even leave the shop.
So, what do we think? Worth all the fuss?
Definitely. There was talk as to whether the shop would be London's flagship store ahead of the Regent Street one – the world's most successful Apple Store.
But we don't think the London flagship was even a consideration for Apple. It's clear that Apple Store at 1 Piazza, Covent Garden, is the world's flagship Apple Store.
The store opens on Saturday 7 August at 10.30am – be one of the first 4000 inside and nab yourself a free t-shirt. And don't worry about stock levels – Johnson said there are more iPhone 4s and iPads at the new store than anywhere else in the world.

NEC Japan
NEC announced LaVie S Laptop today in Japan. This laptop is implementing the Intel’s Next Gen Calpella PC platform, wher it will be based on the 45nm Nehalem Processor architecture and the adaptive snoozing features on its new wireless chipset, allowing NEC LaVie S laptop to scales down its radio power as low as possible when the data transmission is not so active.
NEC LaVie S laptop is also one of the wannabe slim 15.6-inch laptop because the thickness has closely ‘thin’ at 35mm only. Well, if you have to compare it with the latest slim type laptop, NEC LaVie S laptop sure looks a lot thicker. But the thickness does come with some reasons…
NEC LaVie S laptop has a wide 15.6-inch LED-backlit display (support 1366×768), 1.86GHz Celeron P4500 or 2.26GHz Core i5-430M CPU, 2/4GB of RAM, 320GB/500GB HDD, Integrated graphic card, DVD writer (this is one of the reason for the thickness), 10/100 Ethernet, Wi-Fi b/g/n, and it has been loaded with either Window 7 Home Premium or Professional 64bit.
As for the price, NEC LaVie S laptop is considered as the mid-stream laptop because it has the starting price at $1,082. Will start selling on April 22nd.

p2pnet view Movies:- Japan’s NEC says it’s come up with a new technology “capable of accurately detecting the illegal copies of video contents or their altered versions uploaded to the internet in just a few seconds”.
Apparently “it can manage to do so by generating a compact signature or fingerprint of 76 bytes of size per frame of the original content and comparing them with the video content on the internet”, says Akihabara News.
“That means, for instance, any screener or camcorder movie copies will be detected by either the producers or service providers fast and easy”, says the story.
According to NEC, “the technology succeeded %96 of detection rate with low false alarm rate of 5ppm (5 in one million) during the tests conducted by international standardization organization (ISO)”, says the story, adding:
“And the technology is already accepted as part of the MPEG-7 standard.”
The auld grey heads who run the corporate entertainment cartels will be having wet dreams.
But maybe not.
Many, if not most, screeners, working copies and other closely held materials end up online only after they’ve been posted there by Hollywood insiders.
Hmmmm. Could be tricky.
Meanwhile, the full release is below >>>
Tokyo, May 7, 2010 – NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today the development of a video content identification technology that detects illegal copies of video content uploaded to the Internet in a matter of seconds.
This technology generates a fingerprint (video signature) to identify video content then compares video signatures to the signatures of original content in order to detect copies or altered versions. Therefore, altered video content, such as caption overlays, camera captured copies and analog copies, can be quickly and accurately detected.
This new technology enables content holders and service providers to automatically detect illegal copies and prevent illegal upload of video content on the Internet by registering original video content. These developments are expected to significantly reduce the time and cost of manual content inspections as well as improve the scale and accuracy of content assessment.
This technology has been approved by the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 (*1) as the MPEG-7 Video signature tool (*2), international standard for video identification.
These video content identification technologies feature the following:
Accurate detection of copied or altered video content
Video signatures are extracted for each frame based on differences in the luminance between sets of sub-regions on a frame that are defined by a variety of locations, sizes, and shapes. Video signatures represent a unique fingerprint that can be individually detected frame by frame. This technology is capable of accurately detecting video content with that was created with such editing operations as analog capturing (*3), re-encoding (*4) and caption overlay (*5), which was conventionally very difficult to detect.
A high detection rate and low false positive rate for all video contents
By estimating confidence of signatures generated from each frame and using the confidence for sequence identification, the technology achieves a high detection rate (*6) with a very low false positive rate (*7). These technologies achieved an average detection rate of 96% at a very low false alarm rate of 5ppm (5 in one million) through tests conducted by the international standardization organization.
Detection of short video scenes
Due to the high identification capability of signatures, the technology is capable of accurately detecting video scenes as short as 2 seconds (60 frames), which was formerly impossible when using conventional methods.
Compatibility with home PCs
By designing a compact signature size of 76 bytes per frame, the storage memory required for the matching process is minimized. As a result, a home-class PC (*8) can match approximately 1,000 hours of video in 1 second.
Due to the proliferation of video distribution services on the Internet, the detection and deletion of illegally distributed and copied video content (copyright infringement) has become a crucial issue for content holders and service providers. This problem has conventionally been addressed by manual inspection which is incapable of accurately tracking the constantly growing volume of Internet content. In order to solve this issue, various automatic detection tools have been proposed, such as digital watermarks where content is embedded with special code, and the use of image retrieval technology. However, it was prohibitively difficult to accurately inspect large databases, short content or video produced through various editing operations. These new technologies resolve each of the above issues.
Looking forward, NEC will further develop this technology in order to provide a variety of applications that establish a content distribution structure where all video rights are respected.
This technology was approved as the Final Draft of International Standard of ISO/IEC 15938-3/Amd.4 at the 92nd ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 WG11 (MPEG) meeting held in Dresden, Germany from April 19 to 23, 2010. The standard is expected to be published in September 2010, following approval from ITTF member countries.
This newly developed technology will be demonstrated at the 13th Embedded System Expo at Tokyo Bigsite between May 12 and 14.
Stay tuned.
